Carnivals

Thinking of carnivals...

The city comes gushing;
The world spins round and round;
In pink frock and cotton-candy,
The girl lost cannot be found;
Such silence thunderous in the noise,
Not so happy naked breasts,
While the ponies leap pretending to find her,
Behind a purple mask she rests.

When the carousels conspire,
Sealing the fate of the carnival,
Bulbs go off and on,
Lovers hold hands;
Cotton candies and lollipops,
Revolving ponies and scurrying rabbits;
The masquerade held like two frames of a movie,
Stepping back now and stepping ahead now,
Fake smiles, fake eyes, fake joys all,
Revealing the goodness of everything fake,
And the joys derived from magical make-believes,
The carousels conspire,
Tossing the riders up, up, up, in the air!

Amazing photos. Lovely poetry, I've always admired people who can write their own. Anything I've ever written is god-awful, honestly. Or really deliberately wanky just for a laugh haha.

Such a magical post. Love the poetry and the amazing photos.

It kind of reminds me childhood and the innocence and carefree-ness of it.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hi

Came from Barry's blog.

You have a nice way of expressing yourself. I'm trying to write poetry but it seems to fail sometimes (or so I think) I can't always express all the emotion I feel and I think you do it very well :)

I'll be following your blog..

I'll be on leave for the next two weeks but I'll try to catch up when I get back. :)

I love it when the fair comes to town. I love watching the trail of all the vans and trucks.

Tamanna, thanks for visiting me. You asked if I'd read and comment on your poetry. Okay, here it is...wow!

I love this piece. The imagery you've painted, the careful wording. There's a quiet passion in this writing, at least that's what I take away from it.

I hope as you say you'll drop by to visit me often. I think you're a wonderful writer and I'd love to get your feedback on mine.

I'm most definitely following you!

Hi Tamanna. In response to your last comment, "The One" refers to that ONE person we can't forget no matter how hard we try. The one who (regardless of how good or bad they may have been for us) seems to have taken up a permanent home in our heart, mind and soul and won't allow us to let go of them.

I think most of us have somebody like this in our lives.
